Early to Mid-20th Century Louis XVI Style Italian Hand-Painted China Cabinet
Elegant early to mid-20th century Italian Louis XVI style china cabinet, finely crafted in wood and beautifully hand-painted with delicate floral and foliate decoration throughout. Unlike many cabinets of this form, the piece is constructed in one solid section rather than two parts, giving it a more substantial and refined presence. The surface is decorated over a soft light green ground with finely executed hand-painted wreaths, garlands, and leaf motifs in soothing tones of sea mist blue, gray, yellow, pink, and green, all highlighted with gilt accents and beaded trim moldings. The overall decoration reflects the refined neoclassical taste associated with Louis XVI style furniture. The interior is equally well finished, featuring a hand-painted gray backdrop with additional floral detailing and four integrated light strips installed at the top, providing elegant illumination for display if needs be by simple rewiring process. The upper section has two pairs of glass doors opening to an interior fitted with two fixed shelves with plate grooves; the shelving supports are original and not freely adjustable. The lower section is fitted with two pairs of blind doors, decorated with gilt appliqué scrolls, fan motifs, and hand-painted floral reserves. The doors open with a push-release mechanism and conceal interior storage compartments, each fitted with one adjustable shelf. The cabinet is notable for the quality of its painted decoration and gilt work, demonstrating fine Italian craftsmanship of the mid-20th century. This versatile piece can be used as a china cabinet, vitrine, or bookcase, and would complement both traditional and transitional interiors. Overall in good condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use. It Measures approximately : 78" H x 62" W x 13 1/4" D.
