Impressive Early 20th Century George III Style Inlaid Walnut Breakfront Cabinet

$10,800.00

Impressive Regency George III style breakfront cabinet / bookcase, made in Italy in the early to mid-20th century and finely crafted in two sections with a molded and carved crown. The cabinet is executed in walnut and mahogany with fine inlaid decoration, reflecting the refined English-inspired neoclassical taste that was widely produced by Italian workshops during the early 20th century. The elegant breakfront form, combined with high-quality materials and craftsmanship, allows the piece to be used as a china cabinet, vitrine, or library bookcase. The upper section is surmounted by a carved crown molding and fitted with four framed glass panel doors. The interior features a muted sage green silk-upholstered backdrop, providing a soft contrast to the warm tones of the wood. Each compartment is fitted with glass shelving, with three shelves on each side, resting on original fixed supports; the glass holding pegs are not freely adjustable, consistent with the original construction. The façade is enriched with inlaid details and carefully carved moldings, emphasizing the quality of the workmanship. The lower section is fitted with four paneled doors following the breakfront form. When opened, the two central doors reveal an interior fitted with two upper drawers retaining their gilt brass pull hardware, above a wooden display shelf. The side compartments provide additional enclosed storage, making the cabinet both decorative and functional. This cabinet demonstrates fine Italian craftsmanship of the early to mid-20th century, with strong influence from Regency and George III period English furniture, visible in the proportions, inlay work, and architectural form. Its large scale and versatile design make it suitable for use in a dining room, library, or formal living space. Overall in great condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use. It measurements approximately: 91" Height by 86" Wide and 18" Deep.
