Louis XVI Style Table Lamps, Gilt Bronze & Marble, Circa 1880
An impressive pair of Louis XVI style figural table lamps, crafted in finely detailed gilt bronze and white marble, dating to the late 19th century, circa 1880. Each lamp features an elaborately modeled sculptural figure of a seated putto or cherub, positioned above an elegant white marble pedestal and supporting an ornate six-light candelabra arrangement.
The richly decorated gilt bronze work displays exceptional decorative detail, with scrolling acanthus leaves, floral garlands, grape clusters, classical ornamental motifs, and gracefully curved candle arms. The sculptural figures are beautifully rendered, creating a striking combination of classical figural artistry and refined neoclassical design. The white marble bases provide an elegant contrast to the warm gilded bronze, further enhancing the richness and architectural presence of the lamps.
The upper sections feature six candle-style lights arranged in a beautifully balanced composition, making these substantial lamps particularly decorative when illuminated. The pair is complemented by fitted fabric shades in a warm golden tone, measuring 12 inches in length, with a 12-inch top diameter and an 18-inch bottom diameter.
Measuring 31 3/4 inches high overall, with a base diameter of approximately 15 1/5 inches, these exceptional lamps would make an impressive statement on a console, commode, mantel, or large occasional table. Their Louis XVI inspired design and elaborate craftsmanship make them particularly suitable for traditional, European, or classically appointed interiors. Both lamps are in good working condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use
